The recent killing of Qasem Soleimani has unleashed a torrent of cartoons and memes on Social Media celebrating his demise at the hands of Donald Trump. I'll put aside the legality of that action for the moment. A human being has been killed, yes he is but one of many and he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds, possibly thousands of others. He was following orders but could fairly be called a monster for his tactics and indifference to killing the innocent. But we like to think of ourselves as the good guys and most of the time we try our best to be the good guys. That includes not celebrating the taking of human life when we decide it is necessary to do so. We don't need to mourn him, or regret his passing in any way. But we are no better than the terrorists we are fighting when we dance on the graves of our enemies. We all need to remember that.
