Ralph Fitsch (1550-1611) one of the first English travelers and merchants said: This is the most magical place in the whole world "describing this wonderful building which is Shwedagon Pagoda". The Swede is a Buddhist temple in Rangoon, the former capital of Myanmar. It is believed that it was built 2,500 years ago on behalf of King Okkalapa. Although its name includes the word "pagoda", it is a typical stupa as a religious building. Considered universally one of the holiest places of Myanmar.
