"People use cryptocurrencies for many different things, legal and illegal. However, Jimmy Song says that Bitcoin can be used to promote peaceful revolutions..."
I am sick of people saying how [insert X here] can be used for illegal things. Cash is used for illegal things, the internet is used for illegal things, etc. We don't hear about governments looking to ban those. Except for maybe North Korea. Like anything, there are good and bad uses of the technology. The important thing to keep in mind is that the positive effects far outweigh the negative.
That said, I disagree with Jimmy that this is a "tool" for peaceful revolution - and implies that it is used to promote those revolutions. I think that the causal relationship is wrong on that statement. Those peaceful revolutions would be happening with or without Bitcoin. The article mentions an extreme minority of individuals who put BTC symbols on their yellow vests, as if that is what is promoting the revolution. This is not the case.
Crypto is simply offering an alternative to the existing banking system. Whether or not there is a "revolution", people will be slowly moving more and more to crypto over time. It's just the next wave of technology, and as it gets easier to use and scales, the faster people will be moving to a better system in crypto.
