Aaron, I am based in Essex in the UK. You may have heard about the girls that come from here. (they ain't all that bad) Anyways, I am a father of 2. Founder of bitcoinessex.co.uk a space to promote the education of Bitcoin in my county. Like many discovered Bitcoin in 2013 (but didn't do anything about it until 2017) I am An educator by trade and a romantic by ideology. In the early days i blogged about Bitcoin and I am one of the many in this space using Bitcoin to protect my future wealth. I understand the benefits for all society, the idea of separating money & state. And will argue this case until i am blue in the face. I laugh in the face of the usual argument against bitcoin "they won't allow it."
We all have a duty for our children and our children's children not to relax in this pursuit of "sound money" Who is with me?
Welcome! Please let me know if you want to contribute to this site development. It is open source and help is welcome. The community also rewards development with btc donations ;)
Hello! My nick is d4refist, and i am from Poland!
I am teenager (sixteen years old!) who loves rock music, martial arts and cryptocurrency!
Have a nice day!
Welcome! I invite you to create and share posts here. You're off to a great start.
Hello my name is Melvin and I am working on the Solid project at mit. Looking forward to working with the lightning network!
Welcome! I'll go and look into Solid. Do you have any papers or tutorials you can point us to? Make a post about it.
Thanks! This wiki is a work in progress, but you can find some more resources here :
Hi Zapread community, my name is Erik Laan and I am from Delft, the Netherlands. I am an independent Space Industry Consultant working for the international Space Industry. I am interested in all things Space. I believe the future of humanity is destined to expand into the Solar System and the Cosmos. Professionally, I am a Technical specialist in optical science instrument satellite payloads with system engineering experience in the field of space robotics and microgravity & in-situ exploration payloads. My technical specialities are Space Systems Engineering, i.e., the Science/User/Mission-requirements to System requirements to testing/analysis definition flowdown, and Scientific data analysis. I am deeply intimate with what is going on in the Global Space Industry. All the intelligence I gather is fed into my future Space missions intelligence database: the Eye On Orbit Space Missions Manifest.
I really enjoy speaking to all audiences that are keen to learn more about Space and all its dimensions. I have a portfolio of presentations and workshops containing gaming elements, LEGO and Virtual Reality (VR).
In the picture above, you can see me together with my satellite dish. I am participating in the Blockstream Satellite project and receive from the geostationairy Telstar 11N satellite, the broadcasted new blocks of the Bitcoin ledger in my node without terrestrial networks.
I am really excited about the current explosion of the Lightning Network adoption. This is really a breakthrough for further global Bitcoin adoption towards full Unit of Account acceptance somewhere the next decade. I have been running a Lightning Network crowdfunding campaign to help me visit a school without budget, to teach them about Space, Stars & Blockchain. I started this in the midst of the #LNTrustChain craziness and was both surprised and very excited that I did get good traction! See my concluding tweet below:
One of my Crowdfunding campaign supporters, Pan Tomuu, guided me to the zapread platform. I have been posting Space stuff since yesterday and really believe this platform could shake up the Social Media business. It really cuts out a whole bunch of unnecessary layers between content creators, the platform and the readers. At the same time, there is truly a win/win for all the stakeholders. In other words, this platform is simply brilliant. Next step is to get this under much broader attention. In any case, thanks to @zelgada for building this gem!
Thanks for the kind words @Spacerik
I'm having a lot of fun with this project. It still has a long ways to go but I think it's improving fast. I'm a one-person team with a day job, and a family with 3 kids.! There's only so much I can do. That's why it's open source.
Thanks for joining up. Please let me know if you have ideas on how to improve the website.
I'm a strong believer in Bitcoin and Lightning Network, and so I've created Zapread also to bring more people "into the fold". I think that many people who post here may be earning their first Bitcoin on this platform. And then they go down the rabbit hole! They set up a wallet, start using LN, and the network grows.
Welcome!
Thanks for the warm welcome. Impressive feat, family and 3 kids. I have 2 running around here and at the same time run my space company so I know a bit of your challenges! What the platform needs is more users. Given the current attention that the #LNTrustChain is getting (on twitter), that should not be such a big problem for Zapread now! But the @zapread twitter is not so active yet. Why not spend a night full time interacting from the Zapread twitter account with all the discussions going on? For example, invite all the #LMTrustChain torch holders to come over and tell their story on Zapread? Ask them to write a piece on: How they got involved in the crypto field? What they think of Lightning Network? How they see the future? And what they think about Zapread?
Yes, I'm just starting out with the twitter and reddit side of the house. I have been holding back since I know there are still plenty of bugs on the website (not to turn people off). But I think it's time to start getting the word out :)
Oh yes. Timing to do it now is great I think.
And things work well on the site I have to say (Windows 10, Google Chrome).
Just a very small point that confused me: on the top left side it says Social Economy. I would vote to remove those words up there. It just goes to zapread.com and clicking on the logo next to it does the same.
And when writing a post, sometimes you would like to address it to more than 1 group.
Starting to type in this box, preferably one would like to get the list of options that can be chosen. I had to go back to the 'groups' listing to find one that could fit my post.
Just my two cents.
Good luck and when I see a zapread post on twitter, I will certainly RT!
I am enthusiastic about this community and the direction Zelgada is leading us, science has shown from an evolutionary standpoint that each of our friend groups is approximately 150 people in size (Dunbar's number).
I enjoy the platform of this site due to the Groups or "communities" that each of us can be involved in. I believe ZapRead can achieve masses of people congregating and sharing ideas, and I hope we all find a community that really allows us to appreciate the individuals within.
The economics of ZapRead fundamentally adheres each of us to find content we believe is relevant, of good taste, and appreciable for the community as a whole. The wonderful aspect of an economy driven social media platform is the currency used is not unlimited, therefor we must find a Group we can be involved with. This allows us to support the content we wish more people to receive and have a place we can also earn revenue based on our own creation, moderation, and input.
This post is not a good "tell-all" about me, but I do believe it will give most of you an idea of the person I am. Long-winded, fact supporting, technologically capable, and an educator. I personally implore each user here, that hasn't done so already, subscribe to this Group, and introduce yourself.
I am currently taking Araneology, or the study of spiders. My university is one of a handfull that offers this course to their students. I feel honored having the ability to learn what very few others ever will.

Congratulations on completing your degree! I'm glad to see you here! I like the topic for your M.Sc.
I would love to see more of your content on music and on science/photography. You are bringing much-needed variety onto ZapRead and it is the seed to help the communities grow.
One idea I have is to build a higher-layer on top of the basic website.
Something like:
Zapread Social: discuss anything like social media. Similar to what happens on Reddit.
ZapRead Academic: a platform for publishing and reviewing academic journal papers. Like arxiv, but double blind, and monetized. The academic community provides reviews and the reviews themselves are also revied. It would be a totally different way to do global scientific collaboration. Not based on the (outdated in my opinion) scientific journal structures.
ZapRead Publishing: A platform for publishing "blog" articles or longer items. All content would be original content by the authors. The platform would be the publication medium, and allow monetization and discussion from readers.
Anyway - thanks for being here, and welcome back!
Hello everyone,
I'm the creator of ZapRead.com, which is something I want to build for the world. My ambition is to make a global publishing platform which removes the need for publishers. I think of it as what happens when you mix Bitcoin, economics, social media, and publishing.
My background is in Physics, and I have a day job, so I work on ZapRead mostly in the evenings after the kids are in bed! It's a lot of work, and that's why I made the website open source. I invite the world to help contribute.
I have always enjoyed programming (even though that's not my normal job). I am also really excited about Bitcoin. I discovered bitcoin in 2010 and have been studying it ever since then. I remember mining my first bitcoins using my laptop at night. How I wish I didn't sell those! I think the best I can do for Bitcoin now is to build something which helps people obtain their first Bitcoin (I built a bitcoin faucet (https://www.coinpanic.com/Lightning/CommunityJar), and of course people can earn their first Bitcoins on ZapRead by posting quality content or discussion.
Go LN! go BTC!
Really interesting website you have built and i like the ambition you put forward.
I have been lurking around the site few times but finally decided to register and check out how it is to interact here.
Let's see where this social experiment can take us, I'm in.
Welcome! I'm working hard to build this plane as we fly it. Please let me know if you find any missing features you would like to see, or discover any bugs!
Here is my first found "bug":
https://www.zapread.com/Post/Detail/1468
How do you prefer the bugs to be reported?
On ZR or via Github?
Thanks!
Either is best. GitHub is the "master" list of bugs/feature requests - so if you post here, I'll copy it over to GitHub. If you have a GitHub account, it would be most convenient for me if you just opened a new issue there.
Thanks for reporting the bug!
Great project @Zelgada
I'm happy to finally see a social platform being built with Bitcoin and LN is a super bonus.
Hope i can contribute to this project in some way and make it more useful for others.
The best thing is to just use the website, and report any bugs or feature requests at https://github.com/Horndev/zapread.com
If you know any .NET developers, it would be nice to get some more people working on the website too!
Welcome!
What do you think about promoting Zapread? Or you want to wait until some functions will be added? I mean We can try to promote it on Reddit etc.
I would promote it cautiously for now! I love having users already to help find more bugs. But - I'm still sorting out the source code licensing, as I want to protect the community around ZapRead from predatory commercial interests.
As long as everyone knows that the website is in early development, then I'm ok with some limited promotion. It's a big social experiment!
Thanks @fervi!
Hello. Someone once asked where the name "ZapRead" came from. :-)
The name came to me because I wanted to combine something "lightning" with "content". I was searching for available domain names, and Zap worked for lightning, and read worked for content. And Voilà! ZapRead was available. I hope that it isn't an offensive sounding name in any culture - so I've yet to discover that. I think it's unique, and hopefully people will remember it.
Hi, welcome here. Since you're talking about drunk monkeys: Animals Getting Drunk
Also, My Name Is
Welcome @bitcoinessex
Warriors make war, Diplomats make peace and the rest of us make it work.... All my own work that one (i think- I used to be a naughty boy so the memory isn't always that clear) :)
@Sidewalk Bitcoin you should wite an @ and the (beginning of the) name, then click on the suggested name to mention someone.
Thanks. Yeah i did this time but nothing "came up". I have a real dodgy internet connection today, hardly any work achieved because of it. Had to redo practically everything i attempted to today :(
