I have decided to test the lighting network again but this time instead of using my phone I will be using my computer.
I used Bitcoin Lightning wallet on Android, open a channel to zapread and I sent some payments to cobo wallet, and the fees were 0.25% or $0.28.
Now I am testing zap wallet to see if fees are still as high as previous experiment.
If fees are high again that could only mean Lightning Network as a cheap scalability solution is a failure. If experiment results with cheaper fees it could mean previous wallet was the problem or that the wallet software needs more development.
I will be posting results in the same post just as a new comment.
Please share technical details on your testing.
LN is super cheap, any other outcome and I'll need to look into your methodology.
Y simple goal is to install common apps and use it, like I would use any other app.
I used cobo Wallet to receive my Lightning because from that wallet I can send back to my cold storage wallet without paying Lightning to onchain fees at least that is that moment.
I have tested wallet of satoshi and bluewallet those two were expensive not just because of the routing fees but because they take a cut about 0.3% just for sending receiving no fees unless is from chain to Lightning which is another 0.3% .
So both are expensive but are good for those that don't have time to setup even private channels, or just wanna test it.
Eclar mobile can't receive payments even if your channel is almost empty, but they can open a inbound channel to you for a fee.
Bitcoin Lightning wallet can receive but you have to use it a bit to make run but the fees are high about %.25 your node and channel is private, no custodian
Zap wallet on Windows setups private node and channels and fees are around 1 to 3 satoshis, but it is also node connect to depended.
I am waiting for for zap wallet Android and electrum.
In my last experiment I forgot to take screenshots to show proof that fees were low.
I will check to see if I can get that data out of zap
