It all makes sense if you think about it. Trump doesn’t care that the Russians interfered in the 2016 US election. He loves to interfere in British politics and anyone else’s that strikes his fancy, so in his mind why shouldn’t the Russians interfere in US politics? He has previously equated Russian and US practices saying “They are killers and we are killers” while discussing extrajudicial killings.
Trump’s travelling outrage machine has landed in Britain in the midst of the Brexit mess and a Conservative Party leadership campaign. A normal US President would refrain from commenting on such matters. Not “The Donald”. He just can’t help himself. He tells the British what they should do about Brexit, promotes his “friends” Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson, he insults Megan Markle, Elizabeth May and Sadiq Khan before the plane even lands. Who knows what mischief this child in presidential garb will get up to before Air Force one is wheels up once more? The Orange Buffoon’s defenders will say that Trump is only punching back at those who disrespect him. This is what we expect from the President? Would Americans accept any foreign leader engaging in petty name calling in response to real and imagined slights, meddling into domestic politics, telling them what to do about an existential question? Apparently the answer is yes for many Americans who share Trump’s lack of concern over the Russian meddling. Trump has said that lack of border enforcement means we don’t have a real country. You know who else doesn’t have a real country? Those who tolerate foreign interference in their politics.
