If you have chat messages that you have not yet read, they are now visible with a red chat icon in the menu bar:
The chat system needs a lot of work - and hopefully in the next cycle I'll give it more love. Lots of other higher priority features to work on at the moment.
I am also fixing @Zelgada mentions. Still a few bugs, but almost there!
